Modular or Integrated commercial pilot training?
Only you can decide which of the two training paths are more suitable for you. However, we are happy to provide you with the essential facts as a basis for making the right decision.
Integrated commercial pilot training
The integrated commercial pilot training is the fastest and most effective way to acquiring the commercial pilot licence CPL(H) and the dream job as helicopter pilot. The duration of the training must lie between 9 and 24 months. Our flight students acquire the CPL(H) usually after 12 to 18 months – the training is normally full time. If you have just completed your school-leaving qualification, diploma or military service, the integrated commercial pilot is probably perfect for you. With the vocational promotion by the German army, this path is also usually selected.
No prior knowledge is necessary for the integrated commercial pilot training. We train directly up to the CPL(H) licence: The theoretical and practical exams for the private pilot licence PPL(H) and the subsequent hour building is omitted. We nevertheless recommend that you take the PPL(H) exams after completing your basic training: The solo flights that are required within the framework of the integrated professional pilot training, can be organised as a private pilot in a more interesting and substantial manner. Explore Germany from above whenever you feel like it! As a professional helicopter pilot, you will rarely get the chance to do so later on: Thereafter, time constraints and precisely planned air routes determine your everyday life.
Modular commercial pilot training
Time-wise, the modular training as a commercial helicopter pilot can be structured more flexibly because it comprises three separate training phases: In the first module, you can already acquire your PPL(H) licence after 3 to 4 months and subsequently collect the necessary flight experience over a longer period whilst practicing your old profession or preparing for future theory lessons in the CPL(H) module. This suits all student pilots, who cannot afford to structure their schedules too tightly. In the event that you have to take a break during the course, your pre-acquired private pilot licence remains intact and you can continue your training at a later date.
Only in the modular CPL(H) training will you also have the opportunity to complete the additional theory lessons for the ATPL(H) training with credits. This facilitates future entry into commercial aviation or acquisition of the instrument rating as these contents do not need to be repeated and no advanced course is required.
