Type Ratings

A Type Rating entitles you to fly a specific type of helicopter. This type rating will be entered in your pilot license - you must renew it at fixed intervals.

At Heli Transair, you can take the exam for different helicopter types

Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Pilot license PPL(H), CPL(H) oder ATPL(H)
  • Medical certificate class 1/2
  • Proof of identity (passport)
  • Current except from the central traffic register (not older than 6 months)
  • Proof of a valid ZÜP (reliability check in accordance with §7 LuftSiG)

Single Engine Type Rating SEP/T(H)

  • Robinson R44 (5 hours flight time + checkflight)
  • Guimbal Cabri G2 (5 hours flight time + checkflight)
  • Airbus Helicopters EC120 (5 hours flight time + checkflight)

Multi Engine Type Rating MET(H)

  • Leonardo Helicopters AW109 (8 hours flight time + checkflight)

Attention!

The legislator does not provide for a uniform license entry for the Agusta A109 type rating. If you purchase the Type Rating on the Agusta models A, A2 or C, you receive the authorization with the designation A109. However, these patterns are used in commercial flight operations only used sporadically.

For a type rating on an Agusta A109 with the designation E, S or SP you receive the model entry AW109 in your license. A later upgrade of a training course from A109 to AW109 (so-called differential training) is not possible - it is a completely independent type rating!

Currently several flight schools offer a type rating for the Agusta A109. At Heli Transair, you acquire the AW 109 license for helicopter types, which are frequently used in commercial aviation throughout Europe. Please consider this when making your decision for the right flight school.

If you already have a type rating for a multi-engine helicopter, you will get a relief for the purchase of another MET(H) type.

Type Rating Guimbal Cabri G2

The course serves the acquisition of the type rating Guimbal Cabri G2.

The Cabri is a two-seater helicopter with piston engine and a maximum take-off weight of 700 kg. It meets the latest approval criteria.

GUIMBAL CABRI G2

Training content

The training is divided into theoretical training and practical training.

The theoretical training lasts at least 10 hours.

The helicopter with its components, instruments and systems, the EPM (Electronic Pilot Monitor), operating limits, flight performance and emergency procedures are taught. As a combination, the system displays all-important information digitally and supplements the analog instruments.

The practical training comprises at least 5 flight hours.

In the training unit basic exercises are trained first, later the specific procedures and emergency procedures.

The test flight lasts at least 1 hour and is completed with an authorized inspector (TRE) on the corresponding helicopter type in our company. Here you may prove your learned abilities on the new helicopter.

Type Rating Robinson R44

The course serves the acquisition of the type rating Robinson R44.

the course serves the acquisition of the type rating Robinson R44. The R44 is a light 4-seater helicopter with piston engine and a maximum take-off weight of 1134 kg.With the acquisition of the type rating Robinson R44 you have, the opportunity to learn to fly the most widely used helicopter in the world.

ROBINSON R44

Training content

The training is divided into theoretical training and practical training.

Type rating can be acquired for the first time for a piston engine powered helicopter with a two-blade main rotor or in the form of an additional type rating. A credit of experience for the training, if an additional type rating is acquired, is not possible.

The theoretical training lasts at least 10 hours.

The helicopter with its components, instruments and systems, operating limits, flight performance and emergency procedures are taught. In addition, the special requirements for flying a two-blade helicopter are explained.

The practical training comprises at least 5 flight hours.

In the training unit basic exercises are trained first, later the specific procedures and emergency procedures.

The test flight lasts at least 1 hour and is conducted with an authorized inspector (TRE) on the corresponding helicopter type in our company. Here you may prove your learned abilities on the new helicopter.

Type Rating Airbus Helicopters EC120

The course serves to acquire the type rating Airbus Helicopter EC120.

The EC1200 is a light multi-purpose helicopter with turbine engine and a maximum take-off weight of 1715 kg. The helicopter can be found all over the world due to its wide range of possible applications.

AIRBUS HELICOPTERS H120

Training content

The training is divided into theoretical training and practical training.

The theoretical training comprises at least 15:30 hours of close-up instruction on initial purchase and 13:30 hours on acquisition of an additional turbine license. The helicopter with its components, instruments and systems, the VEMD (Vehicle and Engine Monitoring Display), operating limits, flight performance and emergency procedures are taught.

The VEMD, which combines all helicopter and engine information with two central displays and visually appeals to the pilot. The introduction to the system takes at least 3 hours. If you already have a valid type rating on the AS 350 or EC 130 helicopter, instruction in the VEMD is not required.

Type Rating Leonardo Helicopters
A109E/ A109S/ AW109SP

The course serves the acquisition of the type rating AW109, which is divided into the variations A109E, A109S and AW109SP in detail.

This training can be completed for Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flights.

Furthermore, a difference training between the individual variations can also be carried out.

Training content

The training is divided into theoretical training and practical training.

The theoretical training comprises at least 33:00 hours of instruction at first acquisition on the variations A109E and A109S and 52:00 hours at first acquisition of the variation AW109SP.

The helicopter with its components, instruments and systems, the construction of the turbines, the operating limits, the flight performance of a multi-engine helicopter and the emergency procedures are taught in detail.

The practical training can be completed completely on the helicopter or in combination with a simulator (FFS-Full Flight Simulator).

On the A109E and A109S variants, practical training comprises at least 8 and 10 flying hours at first acquisition and 4 and 6 flying hours at acquisition of an additional type rating for multi-engine helicopters.
